December 2024, marks a significant milestone for Your Plan Manager (YPM)—10 incredible years of supporting NDIS participants across Australia. What began as a small, family-run business has grown into a trusted leader in NDIS Plan Management, supporting participants, families, and carers to navigate the NDIS with confidence.
A Vision Shaped by Experience
The YPM journey started with one determined individual—Tanya Walford. As a mother with personal experience supporting loved ones living with a disability, Tanya experienced firsthand the complexities of the NDIS. Determined to simplify the process for others, she registered her business in 2014. What began as a small bookkeeping service focused on claims submissions has evolved into a thriving organisation with a team of over 35 dedicated staff, committed to delivering personalised and reliable plan management services.
A Workplace Built on Collaboration and Inclusion
YPM’s success stems from a workplace culture grounded in collaboration, integrity, diversity, leadership, and human connection. Tanya’s leadership philosophy embraces open communication and teamwork, fostering an environment where every team member feels valued. This culture has not only strengthened internal operations but has also ensured that participants receive consistent, high-quality support.
When the Northern Rivers floods struck in 2022, YPM’s team demonstrated remarkable resilience, supporting participants, staff, and providers who were affected. Their dedication ensured that services continued uninterrupted, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to its community.
Lessons Learned Along the Way
Reflecting on a decade of growth, Tanya emphasises the importance of trust and adaptability. By empowering her team and embracing feedback, YPM has cultivated a strong and cohesive workplace. Tanya has also embraced the value of progress over perfection, encouraging innovation and calculated risk-taking to drive the business forward. This mindset proved vital during the COVID-19 pandemic, when YPM transitioned to a hybrid working model. By leveraging technology and prioritising flexibility, the team maintained seamless support for clients while safeguarding staff well-being.
Looking Ahead: Innovation and Partnership
As YPM celebrates its 10-year milestone, the focus remains on innovation and continuous improvement. A key initiative for the future is the partnership with Kismet, and embracing the new Kismet Navigator software. By embracing technology and aligning with YPM’s core values, the organisation is poised to deliver even greater value to the NDIS community.
