Our Plan Mentor Sarah had a chat with Max’s Mum and carer Alex, who answered a few of our questions about Max’s journey with the NDIS so far and his experience with Your Plan Manager.
Q: How has the NDIS helped Max
A: The NDIS plan has been tailored to suit Max’s desired outcomes and goals. He can access the services and specialised tutoring and training he desires for performance and dance. These are his passions and goals.
Q: What part has YPM played in supporting Max’s love of dance
A: The family lived abroad for 5 years and have been back in Australia for the last couple of years. Alex and John are future planning for Max’s independence. To reach his full potential, Max needs assistance to build his capacity. Alex and John were happy to engage Your Plan Manager to manage Max’s plan with the future in mind and ensuring he is setup with as much of a support network as possible. (in the event Alex and John are no longer able to). YPM has worked alongside Max’s supports; ensuring his plan, budgets and invoices are always looked after and Max has the best opportunity to fulfil his goals.
“Max lives a very full and busy life and meets every opportunity and challenge with enthusiasm and determination”.
Alex remembers the day Max was born and they realised he had different abilities and wondering what the future might hold for him. Not in their wildest dreams had Alex and John envisioned Max dancing on National TV. A goal Max has worked towards for quite some time. Already Alex has heard from another mum with a 2 year old with Down’s Syndrome who saw the Audition on Australia’s Got Talent and she said how much hope it has given her for their family’s future.
Alex said she hopes this highlights to all people with disability, and the wider community, the potential that we all have.
Summary
Max’s love for dancing is contagious, and his performances leave audiences in awe. His dedication and hard work towards perfecting his craft are truly inspiring, and it is a joy to see him on stage. We are thrilled to have him as a part of our YPM family, and we cannot wait to see where his talent and determination take him in the future.
